charizmatic

i very much agree with mr.hasnaat.

we must not be language sensitive with the movies. instead of discriminating movies by language we must ask for GOOD MOVIES...... whatever language it has!

i ve seen loads of foreign language movies collection in the video shops of ENGLAND which include french, persian, italian....even gora people watch indian flicks by relying on subtitles.

except very few (such as KKL)most of our urdu movies are BOLLYWOOD inspired and what indian did in 90s we are experimenting them now such as MEDLKA, KAKN etc.

PUNJABI is the only film in which we have our own style & identity (wether u like it or not). most of indian punjab tried to copy this style and failed miserably.

while living in ENGLAND i met lot of INDIAN fellows who know the names of punjabi pak movies such as MAULA JATT, CHOORIAN etc but no one know any urdu film. why should they when they can do better in it. e.g., when YDAKH released in ENGLAND, the very next day KAANTE was out. is there any comparison between two????

i don't agree that punjabi film only runs well in punjab circuit. PLEASE SEE THE BUSINESS OF MAULA JATT AND OTHERS IN KARACHI. film can run all over the world despite its language....BUT IT MUST BE GOOD MOVIE rather than "GUJJAR BRAND HIP HOPS".

how come KHUDA KE LIYE managed to get success across the board???

was it not different or creative?

i am pretty sure the film RAMCHAND PAKISTANI is good movie....my question is WHAT COULD HAVE ADDED IN THIS MOVIE TO MAKE IT BLOCKBUSTER?

i do understand the necessity of making relaistic jail effect, especially in world of paralell cinema.

but does it actually worked in the culture of Pakistan???

cetainly not......as the movie of such an international standard merely recovred its cost.

i see the following reasons of this movie for not performing well: (provided i haven't seen the movie yet, so the analysis might not be accurate, feed back will be welcomed!!!!)

1) there are 2 segments of the cinema audience exist in Pakistan which are:

-youth (not necessarily educated)
-family

in pakistan a blockbuster can't happen without family viwership. in this movie that very important segment has been drifted away due to the use of abusive language. one must agree with me that the values we enjoy in our society ,..... doesn't accomodate the debate of necessity for reality impact of real world in cinema.

the youth cinema viewership in pakistan largely consists of un-educated people. they only have the ability to make a movie a mere hit or average but not blockbuster at all.the examples may include all the recent punjabi hit films such as HAMAYUN GUJJAR, ATIF CHOUDRY, ZIDDI RAJPUT etc etc. which are obviously a sub standard product which get attention due to vulgar dances, strong lnguage dialouges etc.
one must not expect this segment to be intrested in the paralell cinema at all especially a master piece with NO CAST VALUE as it was in KHUDA KE LIYE i.e., SHAAN.

unfortunately both segments were drifted away due to their very own traits. and the much awaited masterpiece RAMCHAND PAKISTANI only managed to recover its cost by the viewership of educated youth which less than 30% in the society.

feed back welcomed!!!

IQBAL KASHMIRI gave loads of hit movies in the past. but unfortunately he couldn't maintain his reputation as his quality became very much dependent on production value.

for example in recent past his movie 'JO DARR GAYA WOH MARR GAYA' was blockbuster bcoz it was produced by SAJJAD GULL who has reputation of keeping an eye on every frame of the film. another film by SHAHZAD GULL 'GHAR KAB AAO GAY' had the same impact as well.

but the other side of picture wasn't the same as the movie 'MUMMY' which had the cast value as "JDWMG " (NADEEM, ATEEQA ODHO) was dead flop at box office....and it deserved it.

another movies like MOHLAT, SARAK etc couldn't make any thrill at box office at all.

the worst of all was 'NAJAYAZ' which was one of the worst copies of any movie i ever seen. it was almost 100% copy of 'NAJAYAZ'.....the director didn't even botherd to change the name and songs as well (ABHI ZINDA HOON TO JEE LAINAY DO, BHARI BARSAAT MEIN PI LAINAY DO.....FILMED ON naseeruddin shah). the whole movie was poorly acted as well especially JAN RAMBO.
